Screen Pets Privacy Policy
Local-first desktop and spatial pets | On-device storage | No account
1. Who We Are
Myworkingmemory LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates Screen Pets (the "App") and related support materials (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Services process, how it is handled, and what choices you have.
2. Short Version
Screen Pets is a local-first app that places animated pets on your Mac desktop or, on Apple Vision Pro, in your space. The current App stores pet records and state, plus a local cache of your Expansion Pack Alpha entitlement, in Apple UserDefaults inside the App's sandboxed container on your device.
The current App does not require a Company account, does not send your pet records or state to Company or a Company server, does not include analytics or third-party advertising SDKs, does not sell personal information, does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and does not track you across apps or websites.
Apple and StoreKit process App Store downloads, purchases, and restores under Apple's own terms and privacy policies. Company may receive information only when you choose to contact Company, visit a Company website, or interact with the App Store.
3. Product and Privacy Posture
The Services are designed as follows:
- Apple App Store distribution for Macs running macOS 13 or later and Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 2 or later;
- a one-time paid App Store download, currently listed at USD $1.99 in the United States, with eight pets included;
- an optional, non-consumable Apple In-App Purchase called Expansion Pack Alpha, currently listed at USD $3.99 in the United States, which unlocks 50 additional pets;
- Apple and StoreKit handle payment, transaction status, and purchase restoration;
- the App stores pet records and state, plus a local entitlement cache, in UserDefaults inside the App's sandboxed container;
- no Company account, public profile, social feed, public gallery, user-content upload, or sharing feature;
- no Company-operated cloud sync, account-based backup, purchase server, or remote pet-data server;
- no analytics, third-party advertising SDK, behavioral advertising, cross-app tracking, session replay, or user-profile creation;
- no user-generated content, user file storage, photo-library access, camera, microphone, contacts, precise location, health, or biometric permission; and
- no App network communication except communication with Apple's App Store and StoreKit services for product information, purchases, transaction status, and restoration.
Different App features or data practices may require different disclosures, controls, or consents as required by applicable law or platform rules. This policy will be updated before a materially different practice is introduced.
4. Local App Data
When you use the App, it may process on your device:
- which pets you select or activate;
- the number and state of active pets;
- whether pets are paused or sent home;
- their stored desktop or habitat positions and movement state; and
- a local cache indicating whether Expansion Pack Alpha appears unlocked.
This processing occurs on your device. Company does not receive, host, scan, analyze, index, sell, or use this local App data through ordinary App use.
5. Local Storage, Backups, and Deletion
The App writes pet records and state, plus its local entitlement cache, to UserDefaults inside its application sandbox on your device. Other apps ordinarily cannot access that container, subject to operating-system security, backups, device compromise, and actions you take.
Depending on your Apple and device settings, a device backup or migration may include App data. Company does not operate, inspect, control, or guarantee Apple backups, device backups, migrations, or restores.
Deleting the App and its associated local container ordinarily removes active local App data from that device, but copies may remain in device backups or migration archives. Company cannot recover, restore, export, correct, or delete local App data for you because Company does not possess it.
6. StoreKit, Purchases, and Restores
Screen Pets uses Apple's StoreKit framework to request product information, initiate purchases, observe transaction status, and restore eligible purchases. Apple processes payment information, purchase history, refunds, taxes, chargebacks, Family Sharing availability, and transaction status under Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
The App may read StoreKit product and transaction information on your device to determine whether Expansion Pack Alpha is unlocked. It caches that entitlement locally in UserDefaults for App functionality. The current App does not validate App Store receipts with a Company server and does not send Apple transaction identifiers, receipts, or purchase history to Company.
Company does not receive your full payment-card number from Apple.
7. Website and Technical Data
When you visit a Company website or support page, Company and its hosting, security, and infrastructure providers may process routine web information, such as:
- IP address;
- request date and time;
- page or resource requested;
- browser, device, or operating-system technical data;
- country or general region inferred by hosting infrastructure;
- referrer and user agent where applicable;
- basic server logs;
- security and abuse-prevention signals; and
- error or performance information.
This information may be used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve Company websites and support materials; comply with law and platform rules; and make product, pricing, marketing, reliability, and App Store decisions.
Company websites do not receive your local Screen Pets pet records, state, activity, or entitlement cache.
8. Support Communications
If you contact Company for support, Company may receive:
- your email address;
- your name if you provide it;
- the contents of your message;
- screenshots or attachments you choose to send;
- device model, operating-system version, App version, or App Store purchase details you choose to provide; and
- other information reasonably needed to respond.
Do not send confidential information, personal information, or third-party private information unless you want Company to review it for support purposes.
Company uses support communications to respond to you, troubleshoot, maintain business records, enforce the Terms, protect Company Parties, and comply with law.
9. Apple and App Store Data
Apple processes App Store downloads, purchases, restores, refunds, taxes, chargebacks, Family Sharing, ratings, reviews, crash information, diagnostics, and App Store analytics under Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
Company may receive aggregated sales, performance, crash, refund, or analytics information that Apple makes available to developers. Company does not receive your full payment-card number from Apple.
10. Information We Do Not Collect Through Ordinary App Use
Unless the App is changed and this policy is updated, Company does not collect through ordinary App use:
- your pet records, active-pet state, or local entitlement cache;
- Company account usernames or passwords;
- full payment-card numbers;
- Apple transaction identifiers or receipts;
- user-created files, images, audio, video, messages, or other user content;
- contacts or address-book data;
- precise location;
- camera, photo-library, microphone, or audio data;
- biometric identifiers or biometric information;
- health, medical, government-identifier, or financial-account data;
- advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking;
- SMS or phone-call data;
- a public social profile or public gallery; or
- data for sale to data brokers.
11. How We Use Information
Company uses information it actually receives to:
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve Company websites and support channels;
- respond to support, legal, safety, and privacy requests;
- troubleshoot bugs, crashes, device issues, compatibility issues, and purchase-restoration issues you report;
- maintain legal, tax, accounting, support, and business records;
- enforce the Terms and protect Company Parties, users, and platforms;
- prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, or security incidents affecting Company systems;
- comply with law, App Store rules, and legal process; and
- make product, pricing, marketing, reliability, and App Store decisions using aggregate or non-content information.
Company does not use your local App data for advertising, analytics, AI training, personalization, or product research because Company does not receive it through ordinary App use.
12. How We Share Information
Company may disclose information it actually receives to:
- website hosting, email, support, security, and infrastructure providers;
- Apple and platform providers for App Store distribution, purchases, restores, refunds, app review, crash reporting, analytics, fraud prevention, and account administration;
- professional advisors, insurers, auditors, and business operations providers;
- authorities, courts, regulators, or litigants where legally required or reasonably necessary;
- acquirers, successors, financing parties, or transaction parties in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or asset sale; and
- other parties with your direction or consent.
Company does not disclose your local Screen Pets data because Company does not receive it. Company does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
13. Advertising and Tracking
The current App does not include third-party advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, behavioral advertising, analytics SDKs, session replay, or user-profile creation.
The current App does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission because it is not designed to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
Different advertising, tracking, sale, share, analytics, or behavioral-advertising practices would require updated disclosures, controls, or consents as required by applicable law or platform rules.
14. Retention
Local App data remains on your device until you delete the App and its associated local container, erase or replace the device, or another device, backup, or migration event changes that data. Company does not set a retention period for local App data because Company does not possess it.
Support messages, website logs, App Store reports, legal records, and business records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for support, security, tax, accounting, legal compliance, dispute resolution, App Store compliance, and business operations. Company may retain deidentified, aggregated, or non-personal information.
15. Security
The App relies on the application sandbox on your device and your device's operating-system protections. Company uses reasonable measures for information Company actually receives. No device, backup, email, website, or storage system is perfectly secure.
You are responsible for your device, passcode, Apple account, backups, migration archives, and operating-system settings.
16. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13. Company does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the App.
If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information to Company through support or a Company website, contact Company at dean@myworkingmemory.ai so the request can be reviewed under applicable law.
17. State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, appeal, or opt out of certain processing.
Some U.S. state privacy laws apply only above certain revenue, volume, or data-sale thresholds. Company may not be covered by every state privacy law at all times. Company handles privacy requests as required by applicable law.
Send privacy requests to dean@myworkingmemory.ai. Company may need to verify your identity before responding. Because your App data is stored locally, Company cannot access, correct, export, port, or delete it for you.
18. California Privacy Notes
The current App does not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use third-party ad tracking.
Because the App is not a browser-based service, browser "Do Not Track" signals do not change App behavior. Different web tracking, advertising, sale, or share practices may require updated disclosures, controls, or consents as required by applicable law or platform rules.
19. Consumer Health, Biometric, and Sensitive Data
The Services are not designed to collect consumer health data, biometric identifiers, biometric information, precise location, children's data, financial-account data, government identifiers, or other sensitive data through ordinary use.
Different health, wellness, biometric, face, voice, precise-location, account-sync, user-content, or other regulated features may require updated notices, consents, retention schedules, or deletion rights as required by applicable law or platform rules.
20. International Use
The Services are operated from the United States. If you use the Services from outside the United States, you understand that support communications and Company website information may be processed in the United States or other locations where service providers operate.
Ordinary App data remains in the App's local sandboxed container on your device as described in this policy.
21. Changes
Company may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version is identified by an updated effective date.
Material data-practice changes are handled as required by applicable law and platform rules.
