Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how myworkingmemory LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with Metadata Cleaner: Word & PDF, including Ruby Edition, our support, and the policy pages that link here (collectively, the “Services”).

1. Scope and product facts

The App runs on supported iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro devices and scans and cleans supported Word .docx and PDF files. Single-file cleaning and Ruby Edition batch cleaning occur locally. Ruby Edition can process up to 100 selected files sequentially, create separately named outputs, and create a local text receipt. The App is not a redaction, legal-review, forensic, records-management, or evidence-preservation service.

2. Information we handle

Documents and local records

You choose the files to process and the destination for outputs. The App makes a temporary working copy, creates a separate cleaned copy, and does not modify your original. Temporary working files are removed after use and stale temporary sessions are removed when the App next opens. Batch receipts contain the selected filenames and app-reported results; they remain on your device or in the destination you choose. We do not receive these files or receipts unless you deliberately send them to us.

Product analytics

On iPhone, iPad, and Mac Catalyst, we use PostHog to receive a random app-install identifier; App name, bundle identifier, version, build, and platform; and limited events such as app open or update, product-load status, purchase or restore flow status, document-picker completion, scan and clean completion, blocked-clean reasons, and batch file counts and outcomes. The identifier is generated by the App, is not an Apple advertising identifier, and is not used to build a person profile. GeoIP enrichment is disabled.

We do not send document contents, filenames, paths, metadata values, author names, comments, PDF text, cleaned files, receipt contents, email addresses, payment amounts, transaction identifiers, or advertising identifiers to PostHog. PostHog and network providers may process an IP address transiently to deliver the analytics request. The native Mac and Apple Vision Pro apps currently use no-op analytics implementations and send none of these events.

Purchases

Apple may independently process payment credentials, billing, tax, fraud, purchase history, refunds, subscriptions, and Apple Account information under Apple’s policies. Through StoreKit, the App receives limited product and entitlement information needed to load offers, confirm monthly or yearly access, confirm Ruby Edition ownership, restore purchases, and respond to revocation or expiration. We do not receive your full payment-card number.

Support

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and anything you attach. Please do not send sensitive documents. Remove confidential information from screenshots unless it is necessary for support.

3. How we use information

We use the limited information described above to operate purchased features, restore access, maintain security and reliability, understand broad feature use and failures, improve the App, answer support requests, comply with law, and establish or defend legal claims. We do not use document contents for analytics, advertising, artificial-intelligence training, or product development because the App does not send them to us.

4. Disclosure and service providers

We disclose only what is reasonably necessary: limited analytics to PostHog; purchase and entitlement requests to Apple; information to legal or safety recipients when reasonably necessary to comply with valid process, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or establish or defend claims; and information in a financing, reorganization, merger, acquisition, or sale subject to appropriate protections. If you use Apple’s picker, Files, iCloud Drive, a third-party file provider, Finder, or the system share sheet, that destination is controlled by you or an independent provider and follows its own privacy terms.

5. Sale, targeted advertising, and tracking

We do not sell personal information, use targeted advertising, share information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites. The App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not perform Apple-defined tracking.

6. Retention

• Documents and receipts: controlled locally by you. Temporary App working files are deleted after use or at the next launch if a session was interrupted.
• Terms acceptance: the App stores the legal-document version and hash, acceptance date, locale, surface, and button label locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us.
• Analytics: retained only as reasonably needed for product analytics, security, troubleshooting, and deletion cycles under our PostHog configuration and provider arrangements.
• Support: retained as reasonably needed to respond, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
• Purchase records: retained by Apple under Apple’s policies; the App evaluates current StoreKit entitlements.

7. Security

We use reasonable safeguards proportionate to the limited information we handle, including on-device processing, restricted analytics fields, disabled person profiles and GeoIP enrichment, collision-safe output naming, separate output files, and StoreKit verification. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Keep independent backups and review each cleaned copy before sharing it.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

You choose whether to select, clean, save, or share a file and where outputs are stored. You may delete local outputs, receipts, and the App at any time; deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of covered personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, or appeal a denied request. We do not discriminate for exercising applicable rights. Email dean@myworkingmemory.ai. We may need to verify the request. Some pseudonymous analytics may not be reasonably identifiable as yours without the app-install identifier.

We do not sell personal information or use targeted advertising, so there is no sale or targeted-advertising opt-out to exercise. Authorized agents may submit requests where applicable law permits. We will explain any lawful denial and available appeal process.

9. Children

The Services are general-audience tools and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect document contents or personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child supplied personal information through support, contact us so we can evaluate and delete it as required.

10. International users

PostHog or support systems may process limited information in the United States or other locations where providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use lawful transfer and contractual safeguards appropriate to the information and provider relationship.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy when the product, providers, law, or practices change. We will change the date above and provide any notice or renewed acknowledgement required by law. The App prompts for affirmative acceptance of material legal-document updates; the Privacy Policy itself describes and acknowledges data practices.
