This Privacy Policy explains how Metadata Cleaner (the “App”), published by myworkingmemory LLC (“we,” “us”), handles your information. In short: the App does its work entirely on your device, requires no account, and we do not receive, upload, store, or have access to your files or any personal information.
Metadata Cleaner helps you remove hidden information (such as author names, comments, tracked
changes, and document metadata) from Word .docx and PDF files before you share them. You
select a file using Apple’s document picker; the App scans it, creates a separate cleaned copy
on your device, and lets you share or save that copy. The App is not a redaction tool:
it removes hidden document information, not content that is visible on the page.
Scanning and cleaning happen on your device. The App does not connect to the internet to clean your files. The App sends limited product interaction analytics so we can understand app use and maintenance needs. Subscription purchases are handled by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store; we do not process payments or receive payment card information. Your file contents are never sent to us or to any third party by the App.
We do not collect your document content. We do not require an account, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not use advertising identifiers. We do not receive your documents, their contents, file names, metadata, name, email, payment card information, or purchase-identifying personal data.
You control which files you select and where you save or share the cleaned copy. The App creates a cleaned copy and does not modify your original file. Temporary working files used during cleaning are stored only on your device and are removed when you finish; any temporary files left over (for example, if the App is closed before you finish) are removed the next time you open the App. If you choose to share a cleaned copy to another app or service using the system share sheet, that destination’s handling of the file is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, not this one.
The App sends limited product interaction analytics to PostHog, such as app opens, app version, product-load status, purchase or restore flow status, document-pick completion, scan completion, clean completion, and blocked-clean reasons. The App does not send document contents, filenames, file paths, metadata values, author names, comments, PDF text, or cleaned files to PostHog.
The App does not use advertising identifiers, advertising SDKs, or cross-app tracking, and does not allow third parties to use the App for advertising tracking.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, because we do not collect it.
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The App collects no data from any user.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at this page. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
