Myworkingmemory / YouTube Transcripts & Research

Which YouTube transcript API fits an MCP or automated research workflow?

If you already have the video links, compare how each API retrieves existing captions, returns timestamped passages and exports SRT or WebVTT. Check the batch limit, the actual payment commitment and what happens when captions are missing.

Published by Myworkingmemory, the developer of YouTube Transcripts & Research. Sources checked November 1, 2026. This compares published first-party documentation, not independently measured speed, reliability or customer outcomes. Prices are USD and can change.

Already use Apify, n8n or an MCP agent?

YouTube Transcripts & Research retrieves existing manual or YouTube automatic captions for up to 250 supplied videos per run. Receive text and timestamped segments; request SRT and WebVTT in that same run. Your host uses the captions to write source-linked notes or comparisons. Use your own Apify account, without a separate Myworkingmemory subscription.

Compare the bill, not just a per-transcript headline

A proportional credit rate is not necessarily the cash needed to start: a credit pack is purchased as a whole, a monthly plan renews, and an existing Apify account uses its available credit. Unused credits, provider plan requirements, taxes, storage, reads, AI-host fees and automation fees can change the total. We have not verified a new Apify account's minimum cash funding in this comparison.

For our Actor, 250 delivered captions in one 4 GB run have transcript/start event charges of $0.7502 on Free/Starter, $0.6752 on Scale or $0.6002 on Business. That is an event calculation, not an all-in invoice or delivery guarantee. A single delivered caption plus one 4 GB start is $0.0032 on Free/Starter. An unsuccessful run can still have a start charge.

Try the output shape before authorizing extraction

Read our saved caption excerpt as plain text, SRT, WebVTT or JSON without an account or new run. Then use the bounded two-video REST example or inspect the MCP tool schema in your own client. Save run IDs so you can repair a research-document or export failure without buying another extraction.
