StageShield Privacy Policy

Effective September 4, 2026 · Version 1.1

This Privacy Policy explains how Myworkingmemory LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the StageShield macOS application, StageShield support, and the StageShield pages on myworkingmemory.ai (collectively, the "Services").

This Policy is a factual notice of information practices. It is not a separate contract and does not create rights or duties beyond applicable law. The StageShield Terms of Use separately govern use of the Services.

1. What StageShield does

StageShield places a temporary visual layer above the macOS desktop on connected displays. The layer covers desktop icons and the wallpaper while leaving ordinary application windows available. StageShield does not change Finder's hidden-file setting and does not move, rename, delete, upload, or alter desktop files.

No Myworkingmemory account is required. StageShield has a free base version and an optional StageShield Pro unlock sold by Apple as a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase.

2. Information handled on your Mac

StageShield stores app settings locally on your Mac. Depending on the features you use, these settings may include backdrop choice and coverage, icon and cursor timer settings, automatic shielding settings, selected presentation apps, and related preferences.

StageShield also keeps a local Stage Record. The current version records the start and end time of a completed shield session and retains up to 1,000 recent sessions. It does not store the contents of your screen, desktop, files, meetings, windows, microphone, or camera in the Stage Record. These settings and records are used to operate the app and show your history on your Mac.

When StageShield Pro automation is enabled, the app locally responds when macOS reports that an external display has connected or that a presentation app selected in StageShield has launched or become active. It uses those system events to decide whether to show the visual shield. It does not inspect a meeting, presentation, recording, screen image, or audio stream to make that decision.

When cursor auto-hide is enabled, StageShield locally checks how long it has been since pointer activity. It does not record keystrokes, pointer locations, or the content beneath the pointer.

The Company does not receive your local settings or Stage Record through ordinary app use. macOS, device backups, and services you enable may separately retain or synchronize app data under their own settings and terms.

3. App Store purchases

Apple processes the StageShield Pro purchase, payment credentials, taxes, storefront, purchase history, refunds, and related billing information under Apple's terms and privacy policy. StageShield uses Apple's StoreKit services to load the product, verify entitlement status, complete a purchase, and restore a purchase. The Company does not receive your full payment-card number from Apple.

Apple may provide the Company with limited transaction, entitlement, sales, download, refund, storefront, performance, or diagnostic information through App Store Connect. We may use that information to provide Pro access, maintain the app, respond to support requests, prevent misuse, keep business records, and comply with law or App Store requirements.

4. Support information

If you contact support, we receive the email address, message, technical details, and attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond, diagnose the issue you reported, maintain support and business records, and protect the Services. Please do not send desktop contents, screen images, confidential files, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary and you intend to share it.

5. Website information

When you visit a StageShield page on myworkingmemory.ai, the website host and related infrastructure may process ordinary request information such as an IP address, date and time, requested page, browser or device type, referring page, and security or diagnostic logs. This information is used to deliver, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the website. Website activity is separate from the local Stage Record.

Selecting an App Store, Apple support, email, privacy, terms, or other external link may open a service controlled by Apple, your browser or mail provider, or another third party. That service handles information under its own terms and privacy policy.

6. How information may be disclosed

We may disclose information we receive:

7. Retention

Local settings remain on your Mac until they are changed, overwritten, reset, or removed through the app, macOS, or device-management choices available to you. The Stage Record retains up to 1,000 recent completed sessions. Backups controlled by you or by an independent platform may retain earlier copies.

We retain support communications, website and security logs, Apple transaction or business records, and legal records only as long as reasonably necessary for support, security, accounting, tax, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or other purposes described in this Policy. Retention periods vary with the record and the reason it is kept.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed for the information and Services we operate. No storage, transmission, platform, or security measure eliminates all risk. You are responsible for securing your Mac, Apple Account, backups, shared displays, screen-sharing settings, and information you choose to send to support.

We investigate suspected security incidents and provide notices to affected people, regulators, or others when applicable law requires. The timing, content, and method of any notice depend on the facts, legal requirements, law-enforcement needs, and remediation. This statement does not promise notice when law does not require it.

9. Privacy choices and requests

You control StageShield's local settings through the app and your Mac. Because the Company does not possess your local settings or Stage Record through ordinary app use, we cannot retrieve, correct, export, or delete that local information for you. Support can explain the controls available in the current app and macOS version.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights concerning personal information held by the Company, such as rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of covered information. To ask a privacy question or submit a request, email support@myworkingmemory.ai with "StageShield Privacy" in the subject line and identify StageShield, the request, and the information reasonably needed to locate relevant records. We may verify identity and authority proportionately, request additional information, or limit or deny a request when applicable law permits or requires. We will respond within the time and in the manner required by applicable law and provide an appeal method when required. An authorized agent may submit a request where local law permits, subject to legally permitted verification. Nonwaivable rights remain available.

10. Children

StageShield is a general-audience productivity utility and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to the Company through support or the website, contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.

11. International use

The Company operates from the United States. If you contact us or visit the website from another country, the information described above may be processed in the United States or where the relevant service provider operates. Those locations may have data-protection laws different from those where you live. We use safeguards required by applicable law for information we control, and rights that applicable law makes nonwaivable remain available. Local StageShield settings and the Stage Record remain subject to the device, backup, and platform choices you control.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy when the app, website, law, or our practices change. The current version will show its effective date. If a change materially expands a use of personal information, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent when applicable law requires. We will not rely on a silent policy change to authorize a materially different use when law requires more.
