Support — Metadata Cleaner for Firefox
Updated October 22, 2026
Metadata Cleaner for Firefox inspects one ordinary Word .docx or PDF, then creates a separate verified cleaned copy. Inspection and cleaning upload the file to Myworkingmemory’s hosted service. Your original is unchanged. The Firefox edition differs from the native Apple apps’ on-device workflow.
Start with one document
Open Metadata Cleaner from its Firefox toolbar button. Enter your email and choose “Send free access code.” Enter the code from the email within 15 minutes and choose “Verify email and connect free access.” Existing paid customers can enter their hosted-service email and access key and choose “Connect account.” Do not share a key or verification code with support.
Choose one ordinary Word .docx or PDF no larger than 2 MiB. Confirm that it excludes personal health records, payment-card or security details, government-ID numbers, passwords, API keys, and other authentication secrets. This confirmation is your input choice, not an automated detector. Choose “Upload and inspect,” review the finding categories, then choose “Create cleaned copy.”
If cleaning would accept tracked changes, remove hidden text, or remove custom XML, review and choose the separate content-change confirmation before cleaning. These operations can change document content. Your original file remains unchanged.
One free successful cleaning each week
Each verified email address has one free successful verified document cleaning, followed by a rolling seven-day wait from that successful cleaning. The account display shows the next free-cleaning time. Reinstalling the extension or replacing its free key does not reset the server allowance. An inspection or an unsuccessful cleaning does not use the free successful-cleaning allowance. Request-rate and capacity limits still apply.
Pro, payment and refunds
“Pro” provides additional bounded paid cleaning access through Myworkingmemory’s existing website checkout and Stripe payment processor. It is not unlimited use or an auto-renewing subscription. The existing US$2.99 pack provides 20 successful verified cleanings and at most 60 processing attempts; the US$9.99 pack provides 50 successful verified cleanings and at most 150 processing attempts. Each pack expires 12 calendar months after verified payment. The checkout shows the selected price, limits, and final total before payment.
Firefox uses an available free cleaning first. Inspections and input validation failures before a paid reservation do not spend a paid attempt. A paid cleaning reservation spends an attempt even if later processing fails; only verified successful paid cleaning commits a cleaning credit. A free Firefox key is separate from a paid hosted key. After purchasing, connect the paid hosted-service email and key supplied by the website. Apple app purchases and ChatGPT subscriptions do not automatically include hosted access.
For purchase support, email dean@myworkingmemory.ai with the purchase reference and generic error, without the document or key. The Terms preserve the existing voluntary refund process: request a full refund within 14 days after purchase if no successful cleaning from that pack has been used, subject to the complete provisions there. Refunds and disputes affect the original pack separately from other valid packs.
Download the separate copy promptly
Choose “Download verified cleaned copy” after successful verification. The secret link expires ten minutes after creation and allows at most five fetches. Anyone with the link can fetch the file while it remains valid. Credential changes or affected access revocation can end access earlier. Link expiry and later physical cleanup are separate; saved or shared copies remain under the control of their recipients.
If the result cannot be confirmed, retry the same file with the same content-change choice promptly. A temporary encrypted receipt can recover an already-confirmed result without a second cleaning credit. If it remains unavailable, contact support with the generic error and purchase reference. Do not send the file, key, verification code, or download link.
Limits and common problems
The service supports ordinary .docx and PDF files up to 2 MiB. Unsupported, encrypted, malformed, damaged, oversized, or incompletely verified documents are refused. It does not support legacy .doc, Excel, PowerPoint, or macro-enabled files, perform OCR, flatten PDF form fields, or inspect metadata inside embedded images. Visible text, form answers, and embedded-image metadata may remain. This is not redaction, anonymization, or a guarantee that a file is suitable to share. Review the result before sharing.
If a document cannot be read, save a fresh copy from the application that created it and try that supported copy. Keep your original and independent backups. If the free allowance is used, check the displayed next-free time or choose additional paid access. If account verification fails, check the email and current key; request a new free-access code if needed. A new code replaces only the Firefox free key, not paid hosted access.
