Local document processing
Firefox extension version 0.2.0 and later includes its document inspection and cleaning engine. Selected DOCX/PDF bytes are processed in a local worker. They are not uploaded to Myworkingmemory, a cloud document processor or an AI model. Inspection works without an account. Cleaned bytes and reports remain in tab memory until reset or close. Downloads save a separate local file that you control; your original is unchanged. The extension does not store documents, reports or verification codes in extension storage.
Supported ordinary DOCX/PDF inputs are limited to 2 MiB. Unsupported, encrypted, malformed or incompletely verified files are refused. Visible text, form answers and embedded-image metadata can remain. This is metadata cleaning, not redaction or anonymization. Content changes require your approval.
The limited records needed for access
Free cleaning requires email verification. Resend delivers a single-use code valid for fifteen minutes. We retain the destination email, code hash and expiry, then the verified email, access-key hash, verification time and account status. The accepted Terms and Privacy versions, page hashes and acceptance time/method are recorded. A new free verification replaces that free key. Paid keys and free keys remain separate.
The extension sends your email and access key to Myworkingmemory for authentication. It keeps connected credentials in memory and Firefox session storage during the browser session. Disconnect clears that session and local workspace; it does not delete server records.
Allowance checks send a random operation ID, not a document fingerprint. We retain hashed identifiers, reservation and commit status/times, weekly-allowance history and paid-credit references to prevent duplicate charges and enforce one free successful cleaning per rolling seven days. Only a non-document marker is retained for a local cleaning. These access records currently have no automatic deletion deadline. Rate limits use server-derived hashes of the requester address rather than storing the raw address in the application counter.
Payments and essential cookies
The current website checkout uses Stripe Managed Payments (Link). The payment provider receives the information you enter there, such as billing contact, address and payment details. We retain order/payment references, amount, currency, payment/refund/dispute state, credit balance, purchase times and required acceptance records. Our application does not receive card numbers or card security codes. Necessary website cookies protect checkout receipts, account connection and recovery. The extension API omits website cookies.
Pro costs US $2.99 once for 50 additional successful cleanings, plus applicable tax displayed at checkout. No renewal or credit expiry. Existing compatible paid hosted-service email/key pairs work in Firefox. Other hosted connections still process uploaded files separately; this local-document promise applies to Firefox 0.2 and later. Apple purchases and host subscriptions are separate.
Providers, operational logs and retention
Vercel handles access and website requests; Neon stores the limited account, allowance and payment records; Resend delivers verification/recovery email; Stripe handles checkout. Providers may process IP addresses, request timing, errors and security logs and retain logs/backups longer than application expiry. We do not promise that all technical data disappears immediately. No optional analytics or advertising trackers are loaded by this extension or its Metadata Cleaner purchase flow. Historical records collected before this change may remain.
Support email is voluntary and may contain information you choose to send. Do not email sensitive documents. We use essential records to operate access, prevent abuse, reconcile payments and answer support. Account, payment and support records can remain for operational, financial and legal requirements. Contact dean@myworkingmemory.ai for access, revocation, correction or deletion requests. Provider backups and records may remain; downloaded or shared files are controlled by their recipient.
Earlier versions
Version 0.1.0 uploads selected documents to the hosted service and creates temporary hosted download links. This policy does not describe that legacy document flow. Check your installed version and update to 0.2.0 or later before relying on local processing. See the legacy Firefox privacy information.
