Metadata Cleaner: Photos & Images Scrubber support
Metadata Cleaner shows you the hidden information stored inside a photo — camera details, timestamps, and any location your camera recorded — and writes a cleaned copy with that information removed. Everything happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Seeing what a photo is carrying
Tap Choose Photos or Choose Image File and pick an image. The app lists what it found inside the file. If you want to see how it works first, tap Try a sample image.
“No supported hidden photo metadata found” is a normal result. Some images genuinely carry nothing — screenshots, images already stripped by another app, and photos received through services that remove metadata on the way.
Cleaning and sharing a copy
Tap Clean & Save Copy. The app writes a new file with the metadata removed and leaves your original unchanged, so nothing you already have is altered or lost. Then use Share Cleaned Copy to send or save it.
Subscription, restoring, and cancelling
Looking at what a photo contains is free. Writing cleaned copies requires a subscription — the button reads Subscribe to Clean Copy until it is active. Monthly and annual options are sold through Apple, which shows the current price and renewal terms before you buy.
On a new device or after a reinstall, tap Restore Purchases; the app will tell you either that your subscription was restored or that no active subscription was found for that Apple ID. Cancel in your Apple subscription settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
What this app is not
This is not a redaction tool. It removes information stored in the file's metadata. It cannot remove what is visible in the picture itself — a face, a street sign, a document on a desk, a screen in the background. Look at the image, not only the metadata list, before you publish it.
Metadata removal is also best-effort rather than a guarantee of anonymity. Formats and editing tools vary, and some services re-add their own information after you share. If safety or source protection depends on it, do not rely on any single tool.
What the app does not do
- It does not upload your photos, your metadata, or your cleaned copies. There is no server to receive them.
- It does not browse your library on its own — you choose each image in Apple's picker.
- It has no Company account or advertising; optional non-content product analytics is off by default.
Privacy and contact
Your photos, the metadata inside them, and the cleaned copies stay on your device. If you opt in to product analytics, the app sends only a random Analytics ID and allow-listed non-content events; photos, metadata values, filenames, locations, user text, and Apple transaction identifiers are excluded. You can turn analytics off at any time.
