Metadata Cleaner Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
Myworkingmemory LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates Metadata Cleaner: Photos & Images Scrubber (the "App") and the myworkingmemory.ai website pages for the App (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App and Company handle, how it is used, how it is shared, and what choices you have.
2. Short Version
The App shows you the hidden metadata inside a photo — such as camera details, timestamps, and any embedded location — and writes a cleaned copy with that metadata removed. Your photos and their metadata are read and cleaned on your device. Nothing about them is uploaded to Company.
The App is built for distribution through the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad. Cleaning copies requires a subscription sold through Apple as an auto-renewing monthly or annual option; Apple shows the current price and renewal terms before you buy.
The App does not require a Company account, contains no third-party advertising SDKs, does not sell personal information, does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, does not use cross-app tracking, does not collect biometric identifiers, and does not provide health, medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional services. Optional product analytics is off by default and sends only allow-listed, non-content events to PostHog after you affirmatively opt in.
3. Product and Privacy Posture
The App is designed as follows:
- built for Apple App Store distribution for iPhone and iPad; the App is not distributed through Google Play or any other store;
- free App Store download, with cleaning unlocked by an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple In-App Purchase in monthly and annual options;
- no Company account, sign-in, or public profile;
- you choose each photo in Apple's photo picker; the App does not browse your library on its own;
- metadata is read, listed, and stripped on your device, and the cleaned copy is written to the App's own storage on your device so you can save or share it;
- photos, metadata values, coordinates, timestamps, and file names are never uploaded to Company, and there is no Company server to receive them;
- optional product analytics is off by default; after opt-in, only a random analytics identifier and allow-listed Product Interaction events are sent to PostHog, not linked to your identity and not used for tracking;
- no third-party advertising, no behavioral advertising, and no cross-app tracking; and
- the App is not a health, medical, mental-health, biometric, financial, legal, employment, housing, education, or safety-critical service.
Different App features or data practices in future versions may require different disclosures, controls, or consents as required by applicable law or platform rules, and this policy would be updated accordingly.
4. Your Photos and Their Metadata
You select photos using Apple's photo picker. Apple's picker gives the App only the images you pick, which is why the App does not need broad access to your whole photo library.
For each selected image the App reads the embedded metadata — such as camera make and model, lens and exposure settings, software, capture date and time, GPS coordinates where present, and copyright or creator fields — and lists what it found so you can see it. All of that reading happens on your device.
When you clean an image, the App writes a new copy with the metadata removed. The cleaned copy is stored in the App's own storage on your device, and the App purges stale files it created. You decide whether to save the cleaned copy back to Photos, share it, or discard it.
Company never receives the original image, the cleaned copy, the metadata values, the coordinates, the timestamps, or the file name.
5. Subscriptions and Apple Payment Data
Cleaning is unlocked by an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple In-App Purchase, offered as a monthly option and an annual option. Apple displays the current price and renewal terms before you buy, processes the payment, and manages renewal, cancellation, Family Sharing, taxes, and refunds under Apple's rules.
The App uses Apple's StoreKit to load product information, complete a purchase, restore purchases, and check whether a subscription is currently active on your device. No transaction identifier, receipt, or purchase record is sent to a Company server, because the App has no Company server.
Company does not receive your full payment-card number from Apple. Company may receive aggregated sales, subscription, refund, and download reports from App Store Connect.
You manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple subscription settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
6. Product, Network, and Hosting Data
The App uses network connections for Apple's App Store and StoreKit services and, only after you opt in, for the limited product analytics described below. When you open a myworkingmemory.ai page for the App, the third-party hosting provider for that website may process standard server-log information, such as IP address, request time, and user agent, to serve and secure the pages. Those website logs are not linked to your use of the App.
Optional Product Analytics
Analytics is off by default. If you opt in, the App creates a random installation identifier and sends allow-listed Device ID and Product Interaction events to PostHog for analytics. These events are not linked to your identity and are not used for tracking.
The analytics content firewall excludes photos, image bytes, thumbnails, cleaned copies, filenames, file paths, metadata field names and values, EXIF or GPS data, coordinates, photo dates, user-entered text, contact information, and Apple transaction identifiers. PostHog person profiles, autocapture, session replay, advertising features, and cross-app tracking are disabled.
You may turn analytics off at any time. Turning it off stops future events and removes the locally stored random analytics identifier. If you want prior installation-level events deleted, copy the Analytics ID before turning analytics off and email it to dean@myworkingmemory.ai.
7. Support Communications
If you contact Company for support, Company may receive your email address; your name if you provide it; the contents of your message; screenshots or attachments you choose to send; device, App, or purchase details you choose to provide; and other information needed to respond.
Do not send confidential information, third-party private information, or sensitive personal information unless you want Company to review it for support purposes.
Company uses support communications to respond to you, troubleshoot, maintain business records, enforce the Terms, protect Company Parties, and comply with law.
8. Apple and App Store Data
Apple processes App Store downloads, purchases, refunds, taxes, chargebacks, Family Sharing, ratings, reviews, crash information, diagnostics, and App Store analytics under Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
Company may receive aggregated sales, performance, crash, refund, or analytics information from Apple. Company does not receive your full payment-card number from Apple.
Company may receive transaction identifiers as needed to verify purchases, investigate fraud, enforce the Terms, comply with law, or maintain business records.
9. Information We Do Not Collect Through Ordinary App Use
Unless the App is changed and this policy is updated, Company does not collect through ordinary App use:
- your photos, thumbnails, or cleaned copies;
- the metadata values inside your photos, including GPS coordinates, capture dates, camera identifiers, and creator or copyright fields;
- photo file names, photo library identifiers, or file paths;
- your device's precise location, because the App does not use location services;
- Company account usernames or passwords;
- full payment-card numbers from Apple purchases;
- contacts;
- camera data;
- microphone data;
- biometric identifiers or biometric information;
- health or medical data;
- government identifiers;
- financial account numbers;
- advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking;
- SMS or phone-call data;
- a public social profile or public gallery; or
- data for sale to data brokers.
10. How We Use Information
Company uses the limited information it actually receives — support communications, Apple's aggregate reports, and optional non-content analytics after opt-in — to:
- respond to support, legal, safety, and privacy requests;
- troubleshoot bugs, crashes, device issues, and performance issues;
- enforce the Terms and protect Company Parties, users, platforms, and payment systems;
- prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and security incidents;
- comply with law, app-store rules, payment rules, and legal process; and
- make business decisions about maintenance, pricing, marketing, reliability, App Store compliance, and product direction.
11. How We Share Information
Company may disclose information to:
- service providers and processors that host, support, secure, analyze, debug, or maintain the Services and Company systems;
- Apple and platform providers for App Store distribution, purchases, refunds, app review, crash reporting, analytics, and fraud prevention;
- professional advisors, insurers, auditors, and business operations providers;
- authorities, courts, regulators, or litigants where legally required or reasonably necessary;
- acquirers, successors, financing parties, or transaction parties in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or asset sale; and
- other parties with your direction or consent.
Company does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
12. Advertising and Tracking
The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or behavioral advertising.
The App does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission because it is not designed to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
Different advertising, tracking, sale, share, or behavioral-advertising practices may require updated disclosures, controls, or consents as required by applicable law or platform rules.
13. Retention
Support records, Apple transaction identifiers, website-hosting logs, optional analytics events, legal records, and business records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including App operation, support, security, product measurement, tax, accounting, legal compliance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and App Store compliance. Your photos, metadata, and cleaned copies remain on your device according to your device settings and choices.
Company may retain deidentified, aggregated, or non-personal information.
14. Security
Company uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information appropriate for the Services' size and data posture. No system is perfectly secure.
You are responsible for your device, passcode, Apple account, App Store settings, backups, cloud settings, and network security.
15. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13. Company does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information to Company, contact Company so the request can be reviewed under applicable law.
16. State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, appeal, or opt out of certain processing.
Some U.S. state privacy laws apply only above certain revenue, volume, or data-sale thresholds. Company may not be covered by every state privacy law at all times. Company handles privacy requests as required by applicable law.
Send privacy requests to dean@myworkingmemory.ai. Company may need to verify your identity before responding. Company handles non-discrimination obligations as required by applicable law.
Because your photos, their metadata, and your cleaned copies stay on your device, Company cannot access, correct, export, or delete them for you; you control them through the App, the Photos app, and your device settings.
17. California Privacy Notes
The App does not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use third-party ad tracking.
Because the App is not a browser-based service, browser "Do Not Track" signals do not change App behavior. Different web tracking, advertising, sale, or share practices may require updated disclosures, controls, or consents as required by applicable law or platform rules.
18. Consumer Health, Biometric, and Sensitive Data
The App reads the metadata inside photos you select, on your device, so you can see and remove it. It does not transmit that metadata, does not use location services, and is not designed to collect consumer health data, biometric identifiers, biometric information, children's data, financial account data, government identifiers, or other sensitive data.
Do not use the Services as a medical, mental-health, therapeutic, biometric, emergency, legal, financial, employment, housing, education, insurance, criminal-justice, or safety-critical tool.
Different health, wellness, biometric, face, voice, precise-location, AI, account-sync, or other regulated features may require updated notices, consents, retention schedules, or deletion rights as required by applicable law or platform rules.
19. International Use
The Services are operated from the United States and are currently intended for distribution in the United States.
Because photos, metadata, and cleaned copies stay on your device and are not sent to Company, ordinary App use does not transfer that content internationally.
If you use the Services from outside the United States, you understand that information Company receives may be processed in the United States or other locations where service providers operate.
20. Changes
Company may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version is identified by an updated effective date.
Material data-practice changes are handled as required by applicable law and platform rules.
