# Get existing captions into your workflow

1. Open the [YouTube API on Apify](https://apify.com/myworkingmemory/wicked-youtube-transcript-scraper-api) in your own account and review its current pricing.
2. In [n8n](https://www.myworkingmemory.ai/n8n.html#youtube), import the free research-pack workflow, select your Apify credential and supply up to five video links. In [Zapier](https://www.myworkingmemory.ai/zapier.html), use Apify → Run Actor and Fetch Results with this Actor: `myworkingmemory~wicked-youtube-transcript-scraper-api`.
3. Choose a caption language. For the channel-triggered Zapier starter, select your YouTube channel and Google Docs account. A source-sheet queue can use `inputs/youtube-sheet.csv`; map its video_url column when building that alternative.
4. Run only when configured. Keep the source URL and language with the returned text. n8n also exports a research pack, source index and any subtitle files actually returned.
5. Save the n8n completion ledger privately and supply it next time to skip completed videos. The supplied workflow exports state; it does not persist state automatically.

The API retrieves existing caption tracks. It does not transcribe audio or translate. A video without usable captions may return no document. Workflow downloads are free; Apify usage and platform plans are separate.
